CSL the only healthcare company to win Asia Pacific award

CSL, a global biotech leader, is the only healthcare company that has been recognised for excellence in communications within the Asia Pacific region.

In celebrating the region’s most outstanding, inspired and successful campaigns, individuals and companies in the communications industry were invited to participate in the PR Awards Asia.

CSL’s Gift of the Jab campaign was launched at a time where Australia’s COVID vaccination rate was low. CSL’s values talk to the company’s promise to patients and public health – and vaccination enables the delivery on that promise. Many CSL employees realised this, and were keen to play a part in encouraging others to be vaccinated. There was a strong sense that no one was safe from COVID-19 until we were all safe – and that’s why vaccination was so important, the company said.

The Gift of the Jab campaign was a positive, interactive campaign that allowed employees to share their reasons for getting vaccinated across CSL’s internal comms channels with the hashtag #GiftoftheJab. It showcased a variety of motivations – to end lockdowns; protect your family and friends; to see loved ones near and far; to open the borders and visit faraway places; or reclaim health with community sports and recreation. Within days of launching there were plenty of submissions from all levels of CSL which gave it strong momentum.

Our people were able to share their motivations for booking a vaccine as soon as one became available, and the campaign was a powerful acknowledgment of how much life has been able to change with the gift of vaccination.”

From the outset of the pandemic, CSL strongly encouraged everyone – especially its employees – to engage with the scientific evidence that vaccines are safe and effective and have a critical role to play in reducing the severity of COVID symptoms, including the risk of death.

In Australia, the decision followed an employee consultation process and a comprehensive risk assessment which resulted in support for mandatory vaccination as an additional control measure to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace.
